Eat organic

organic-peanutbutter.jpgMy third and final resolution for the New Year is to eat more healthily. I’m already a vegetarian and I rarely eat junk food (that was another year and another resolution), but in 2008 I aim to eat (and feed my family) mainly organic food. I already grow some of my own fruit and vegetables, they’re all organic, and I have additional organic vegetables delivered with a vegetable box scheme. Our milk man delivers organic milk too. So my areas to concentrate on are really grains, beans, nuts, tea and coffee, and processed foods (including treats like chocolate). Here’s a quick look at what’s available.

Everyday Foods: nuts and seeds, beans, spices and seasonings, oils, grains, sugar, breakfast cereals, sauces, pesto, chutney, baked goods and pasta.

Treats: chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate, and some baked goodies too.

Beverages: tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juices and concentrates.

Wine

There’s plenty available out there. So with organic becoming more mainstream, 2008 is going to be a great year for eating organic.
