Miracle Fruit Tablets

Miracle Fruit TabletsAlthough not really a gadget, the Miracle Fruit Tablets definitely should be made into honorary gadgets. These small red tablets are absolutely amazing.

I’ve been meaning to get some of these for a while. I remember seeing them on a television program a while back and being absolutely amazed by them. The Miracle Fruit Tablets are made from a natural berry that’s native to West Africa, containing a glycoprotein molecule which attaches itself to your taste buds. This in turn makes everything you eat taste sweet. Imagine the fun you could have with a packet of Miracle Fruit Tablets.

Obviously if you are eating something that is sweet already, these tablets are going to make it even sweeter. The Miracle Fruit Tablets‘ magic will last for approximately two hours, more than enough time for you to eat sour lemons and grapefruit. I can see these being a hit down the local too, with people daring each other to try and eat food and drink that are usually too intense to consume in large quantities.

Having had a look on the internet for some interesting comments about these tablets, I learned that the sugar industry tried to sabotage research into the Miracle Fruit Tablets back in the 70s.

The Miracle Fruit Tablets cost less than £10 too, which also makes them a great buy.

Stylophone

StylophoneThis is a real blast from the past. I never owned a Stylophone when I was a child but my sister did.

I remember Rolf Harris advertising the Stylophone on television many, many years ago. I also remember my sister used to hide hers so that we couldn’t play with it. Almost every household had a Stylophone. It was a must have gadget during the 70’s and early 80’s, and now you can have another shot at it. The Stylophone is back, and it’s much, much better than before. The improvements that have been made to this 40 year old classic are good ones. The Stylophone now has a headphone socket and an audio input socket. Both of these additions are welcome of course, firstly the headphone socket will prevent the people around you going berserk whilst you practice and fine tune your skills on the Stylophone. The audio input socket allows you to connect any MP3 play or iPod up to it so that you can play along to your favourite track.

If you do not know what a Stylophone is then let me explain, it is an electronic pocket organ that allows you to create music by tapping a stylus across a metal surface. They are really easy to use and a bit harder to master properly. But, you will have hours and hours of fun with it.

My Own Morph

My Own MorphThis is a blast from the past. What a joy it was to find the My Own Morph toy. It brings back so many great memories from when I was a child sitting in front of the television at teatime watching Take Heart. It was one of those programs that you never missed. We didn’t have the 200+ channels that are available today, all we had were four. Tony Hart would create these fantastic things that we could all have a go at doing ourselves.

As part of that program there was an animated section called Morph. Morph was a Plasticine character who lived in a wooden art box. He was created by the world famous, Oscar winning studios of Aardman. Now it’s your chance to own this great little character. My Own Morph will bring a smile to the face of anyone who can remember it on the television. So what do you get in the kit? There are 3 blocks of terracotta-coloured Plasticine and 5 fun accessories; a cricket bat, wizard’s hat, skateboard, beard and comic book. You will also get an instructional DVD with 15 Morph adventures on it. That’s quite a treat in my book.

The really special aspect of the My Own Morph kit is the fact that you have to create and build your own Morph. There are no moulds at all. You have to use your own skill to recreate the famous character. You could also buy some white Plasticine and create Morph’s friend, Chas.

There are hours of fun to be had with the My Own Morph kit. And it costs under £15, which is a real treat.

Universal Remote Control

Universal Remote ControlIf you are anything like me you have too many remote controls for various devices and gadgets. I had a count of how many remotes I have and it totalled 5. That seems like a lot to me. The solution to all the clutter is to get a Universal Remote Control.

Having one remote to operate several devices seems like a good solution to me. I don’t know how many times I’ve been unable to locate a particular remote. The convenience of having a Universal Remote Control are vast. Replacing all your remotes with one is obviously the most prominent benefit. Costing a tiny amount over £25 the Universal Remote Control is going to be of use to any true gadgeteer. Obviously there will be some devices that you will not be able to operate with the Universal Remote Control, but it is a tiny amount. Having a learning mode is another plus point to owning the Universal Remote Control. You can teach it any functions of your original remote control.

The Universal Remote Control will operate up to 5 devices, which is perfect for me. The Universal Remote Control is going to make your life so much easier. No longer will you have to be surrounded on the sofa by a mountain of remotes.

This is one gadget that is going to make your life easier on a daily basis, and I hope that all the gadgets I mention will do this in some way. You will see the benefit of owning a Universal Remote Control from the first time you use it. Definitely highly recommended.

Flying alarm clock

Flying Alarm ClockDo you have trouble getting up in the morning? Well worry no more. The Flying alarm clock will solve your problem. Actually, you’ll not have a choice but to get up.

With the Flying alarm clock you have to get up in order to stop it. If you’re like me and love your duvet then the Flying alarm clock is the perfect alarm clock for you because of this.

I’ve always struggled to get up in the morning, and it is no different today. I used to have a wind up one, but I would forget to wind it up. Then there was the time I got decided to use my mobile as an alarm, and forgot to charge it…. need I go on…

I suppose you’re wondering why this alarm clock is called the Flying alarm clock. The reason it’s called the Flying alarm clock is simple really. When the alarm goes off, the propeller part flies off and the alarm rings… and rings…. and rings…. In fact, it will continue to ring until you get out of your bed and replace the propeller in the base. Only then will it stop ringing.
Trust me when I say that it’s infuriatingly annoying when you can’t find the propeller. And never, ever place it anywhere near an open window… The milkman doesn’t need to see you in your PJ’s.

Costing under £15, the Flying alarm clock is the ideal solution for the stubborn. And it’s great for students too, provided they remember to plug it in to the electricity supply.

Wind Up Dynamo Eco Friendly Mobile Phone Charger

Wind Up Dynamo Eco Friendly Mobile Phone ChargerThe Wind Up Mobile Phone Charger is great for people who like the great outdoors, or who just want to save energy and lower their electricity bill slightly.
The Wind Up Mobile Phone Charger is a handy little gadget to have around the house. It’s also very simple to use, lift the handle and turn it in either direction to get the power flowing. The Wind Up Mobile Phone Charger will give you a 12 volt supply, which is good for not just charging mobile phones, but any device that uses up to 12 volts.

I’ve written about a solar charger in the past, but I recommend you get both. You can use the Wind Up Mobile Phone Charger indoors, which has obvious advantages over solar powered chargers. Having the Wind Up Mobile Phone Charger around means that you don’t have to worry about not being close to an electricity supply. You can create your own. This gadget will definitely compliment the solar charger I wrote about.

The Wind Up Mobile Phone Charger would be ideal for campers or caravan owners. It would also be advantageous to have if you own a boat, or even in the glove compartment of your car.

It costs under £22, so not too pricey. I believe that the quality of this gadget will more than justify the cost.

Thinking Putty

Thinking puttyI suppose we all have moments when we get a mental block. Thinking putty is quite unique because you can stretch it, bounce it, tear it, make it drip and even shatter it. It is perfect for stress relief, and we all get a bit stressed sometimes. The Thinking putty is perfect for the office or home, even students can make use of it.

In all honesty I can’t think of any practical use for the Thinking putty. I do know however that it does pass the time quite nicely. It can even help those grey cells get working again by giving them a rest for a while. Everyone needs to take a break from the daily grind and Thinking putty is ideal for that. It definately is great fun.

Give it as a gift to the stressed out members of your family. Costing less than £7 it is the ideal novelty gift to give.
The Thinking putty comes in a variety of colours. There are even magnetic and glow in the dark versions of the Thinking putty.

Christmas is just around the corner, so why not start getting those stocking fillers in now. Kids and adults alike will love playing with the Thinking putty. I promise you, you’ll not be able to put it down.

Toastabags

toastabagsIt’s getting close to that time when students are starting or going back to University. Students are notoriously bad cooks; well quite a few of them are anyhow. But most of them know how to use a toaster, so what better gadget to get for them than some Toastabags.

These miraculous little bags cook food in a toaster. Yes, you read correctly, they cook food in toasters. Isn’t that great?
So what can you cook in the Toastabags I hear you ask. Well, quite a lot actually. You can cook toasted sandwiches, burgers, beans, scrambled eggs, fish fingers and even oven chips. I think that these are a godsend because you don’t really have to think that much with them. Grab the bag, put what you want to cook into it, stick it in the toaster then eat. What could be easier?

You can also re-use the Toastabags too. They’re easy to clean and dishwasher safe too. Much more economical than getting all those pots and pans out to make a meal, right. At only £6.95 you could buy two and utilise both slots of the toaster at once, which will in turn save electricity. Not only do they cook your food, they save you energy and money. Money you can use for more important things like course books or materials.

You’re not going to become the next Jamie Oliver with the Toastabags, but you can be safe in the knowledge that you won’t go hungry.

George Foreman Health Grill

The George Forman Health Grill comes in a range of sizes to suit all families, from small to large, family sized ones.

The George Forman Health Grill pictured here, is roughly the size of a large toaster and sits stylishly on your kitchen worktop. You plug it in and let it heat up until the light goes off. Then you are ready to grill chicken breasts, steaks, burgers, chops and fish. There are a large range of options and the times for grilling are included in a book that comes with the George Forman Health Grill.
Not only is it healthy because you don’t use any oil or fat, but its quick too, which means that you’re saving money. Using the George Forman Health Grill is much better than turning the oven on, which as we all know, uses a huge amount of electricity. Chicken breasts take roughly 7 minutes to cook, and the sloping grill plate means that any excess fat runs off into the fat catching tray that is also provided. These grills have been around for a while, and are an excellent gadget to have in any kitchen. But with electricity prices on the up, it might be a good time to look at it again if you don’t have on. Costing just over £30, you are going to be making a saving quite soon after buying it.

Its not just about the savings you can make though. There are the health benefits for you and your family.
Cleaning the George Forman Health Grill is a doddle too, just wipe the plates with a damp cloth.

Solar Powered Fairy Lights

Solar Powered Fairy LightsI’ve started a kind of green and power saving theme, which isn’t a bad thing I suppose. Writing about the credit crunch has also become somewhat of a habit. Today I’m going to write about Solar powered fairy lights. I know we haven’t had much of a summer to make much use of these under a canopy, but they still have their uses. They’re ideal if you want all year round lights somewhere, but not the cost.

The Solar powered fairy lights come with a remote control unit too, which will allow you to control what mode they are in.
There are 6 different modes in total: constant, fast flash, slow flash, fast flicker, chasing and combo. Which is enough for any of your indoor or outdoor events. Hang them on the tree in the garden and make it look stunning all year round.

Setting up the Solar powered fairy lights couldn’t be easier. Place the solar panel where it will get the best exposure to sunlight and string the lights where you want them. The battery is waterproof obviously and a five hour charge will give you eight hours worth of light.

Conserving energy has never been so stylish and they’re cheap as chips, get the Solar powered fairy lights from £29.95 now.
