WoodStation
I was browsing the Internet for something completely different when I saw this nifty little gadget. The WoodStation is a motion sensitive LED clock and weather station the likes of which I’ve personally never seen before.
Made from wood with a laminated finish, the WoodStation displays the weather in a cool and instantly recognisable way. You won’t have to do this by studying numbers on the WoodStation’s surface, oh no, this displays actual graphics so that you can see at a glance what your day is going to be like.
The WoodStation can be placed on a table top or hung on the wall and has quite a few features:
- Barometer: weather symbols; sunny - partly cloudy - cloudy - rainy / snowy and stormy
- Temperature (interior)
- Humidity (interior)
- Hour
- Calendar
- Alarm / snooze
There is a drawback to this glorious device and that’s the price. It’s not cheap at nearly £90 but if you’re in to your novelty items then this would be a great addition. The WoodStation would also be a great gift to anyone who’s interested in the weather.
I don’t know if I’d buy this personally, because I’m not that into the weather, but though it would be a good thing to post about for the benefit of you guys. I’m sure that someone will find it useful. To be honest, it’s hardly done anything but rain over the summer and I don’t fancy looking at the rain clouds on a piece of wood that’s sitting on my bedside table.

Cash Stash Keychain
This is a handy little gadget that you could give someone as a gift. The Cash Stash Keychain would be great to have over the summer holidays, especially if you’re likely to attend one of the many music festivals that are happening all over the country.
The Cash Stash Keychain can help keep some of your money safe and dry, so long as you don’t lose your keys obviously. The Cash Stash Keychain will hold your money safe and secure within its aircraft grade aluminium shell.
It would be great to have one of these if you find yourself stuck without any money for a taxi home at the end of the night, or even if you find yourself running short of money and don’t really want to make that trek all the way to the cash point. The Cash Stash Keychain could save you a lot of embarrassment if you find yourself short of cash in the pub when it’s your round too. I’m talking from experience here… I’ve had to do the walking to the cash point thing to pay for a round of drinks.
The Cash Stash Keychain will pay for itself many time over if you use it often. It costs under £5. That’s a small price to pay for peace of mind that you’ll have some spare cash somewhere safe. Get yourself one today!

Gorillapod
Recently I’ve been doing a lot of filming as part of my degree course and needed to get a small camcorder high into the corner of a room. Having tried using all sorts of methods to get the camera in the right position someone suggested the Gorillapod.
The Gorillapod has been designed for use with compact cameras. But they have an SLR version too. That is the version I went for because I needed that little bit extra strength.
So what is a Gorillapod I hear you ask. I’m going to tell you now what a Gorillapod is.
The Gorillapod is a tripod, but a tripod with a difference. It still has three “legs”, but those legs are flexible. You can position a Gorillapod practically anywhere. Even those awkward positions that you thought you could never get to can now become possible.
The Gorillapod is truly a magnificent invention. I don’t know how we managed for so long without it to be honest. Sure, you could carry a conventional tripod around with you, but you wouldn’t get the flexibility that a Gorillapod offers you. With pricing ranging from £16.99 up to £39 there’s a Gorillapod out there for everyone (OK, maybe not absolutely everyone, but pretty much any amateur photographer).
It really got me out of a sticky situation when I was doing my work because the shot could never have been gotten. I highly recommend this one. It’s probably going to be the last compact tripod that you will ever buy. Ideal for taking on holiday with you too.
Oh, and don’t forget, it’s Fathers Day soon!!

Egglings
This was a cute little thing I came across whilst browsing for a different kind of gift for a friend. It’s called an Eggling and basically it’s an egg that’s filled with soil and seeds instead of egg white and yolk.
There’s not much to say about the Eggling really is there. The Egglings aren’t actually made of real egg shell; they’re made from ceramic. This is a good thing because they’ll be more durable and less fragile than your normal egg shell.
Having said that, you do have to crack open the top of the Eggling in order to get at the soil and seeds inside. Then you have to water it and place it in a well light area so that they can grow. How simple is that! I’m guessing even a small child could get to grips with the Egglings.
You have to admit that it’s a pretty unique gift to give to someone who likes gardening. It’s a good gift for anyone who doesn’t like gardening too to be honest. Costing just over £5 you’re hardly going to break the bank are you?
I don’t think there’s anything else I can say about the Eggling really. You’re going to have to get your own to see how much of a joy these can be. You could take the Eggling out of the box before presenting it to your intended recipient to see the confusion on their face. It will definitely be a talking point at any party.
Headphonies
These look like they could be a fun gadget to own. Headphonies are the latest novelty mini speakers to hit the market. They’re a combination of a cute novelty toy and a speaker that you can connect up to any device that has a 3.5″ jack socket.
So why would you want to get your hands on any Headphonies? Simply because they’re cool and funky and they are the must have gadget at the moment. Made of tough ABS, these 3″ toys are great as gifts too. Not only are they great as gifts, they’re highly collectable.
Headphonies can be used as a key ring, so they have a practical use too. So how do you charge the Headphonies? Well, like most gadgets these days, they are charged by plugging them in to a USB port on your computer. You know they’re charging because they have built in LED hearts which show you. How cute is that! You can get about 4 hours from a one hour charge.
The Headphonies are available in three designs at the moment: Pink Bear, Soft Touch and Mad Ape. Each of the Headphonies are limited edition and there are only 500 - 1000 of each available. I have no doubt in my mind that these are going to be a huge seller, so what are you waiting for, grab yours today! Each of the Headphonies sells for £29.95 and is available as always through PriceGrabber.

Stealth Speedboat
This is a pretty cool gadget for both adults and kids alike. I would definitely get one of the Stealth Speedboats. With the weather we’ve had recently it’s been the perfect opportunity to go and race a Stealth Speedboat on a pond or lake. Obviously if you are a younger person, make sure there’s an adult with you for safety.
So, why a Stealth Speedboat I hear you ask? Well, I had a radio controlled Hovercraft when I was younger and never really got to take it anywhere. Now that I’m meant to be grown up I think it would be a Stealth Speedboat would be the perfect gadget gift for me. What’s more, the Stealth Speedboat can reach speeds of up to 30 km/h due to its aerodynamics.
Charging the battery takes 4 hours and this gives you 30 minutes to play with your Stealth Speedboat. Now what I’m thinking is that 30 minutes isn’t really a long time, so I would probably have to buy some extra batteries (if that’s possible). That aside, the Stealth Speedboat is a groovy little gift for anyone who loves their radio controlled models. I absolutely love them and would love to own an RC helicopter.
The Stealth Speedboat costs just under £40 which is great for me.

Veho VMS-001 USB Microscope
When I was a child I always wanted a microscope. I never did get one though. Maybe I will now that I’ve come across the Veho VMS-001 USB Microscope. I remember as a child having a fascination with seeing things really close up. When I got to do biology in school I had grown out of it and was more interested in physics and chemistry.
But as the years have passed by I’ve gone full circle and come back to wanting to know about things in detail. Maybe this is because of the work I’m now doing with Special Effects where attention to detail is very important. I may write a blog post on my degree if anyone is interested in that; let me know.
So the Veho VMS-001 USB Microscope is great if you want to see what a flake of skin looks like in close up, or even what blood looks like. I’m not one for looking at blood at the best of times, but close up it’s totally different (I usually get nauseous if I see blood and have to sit down). Being able to connect the microscope up to a PC via USB is a great advancement over peering down a tiny hole. I think that may have put me off Biology to be honest. It’s either that or having to dissect a sheep’s eye and a pig’s heart.
The Veho VMS-001 USB Microscope is an excellent gift for anyone who has a keen interest in the things around them. Whether it is alive or dead, you’ll be thankful you had a Veho VMS-001 USB Microscope to look at it close up. Having a microscope will give the user a better understanding of how things work and costing just £35 you can’t really go wrong.

Sky Lanterns
The Sky Lanterns are something that I haven’t seen before. The Sky Lanterns are paper balloons that you put a fire underneath to make then rise to the skies. The Sky Lanterns are most effective at night time as the light from the flame make the Sky Lanterns glow beautifully.
Now, why would anyone want to buy the Sky Lanterns? Well, they can be great for special occasions like weddings, birthdays, christenings and engagements. You can write a personal message or wish on the paper balloon and watch as it rises up to the heavens in a gorgeous yellow glow that flickers as they go up.
The Sky Lanterns are made from a flame retardant material and can glow for up to 20 minutes each. Obviously, in that time they can travel quite a distance and can rise to up to 1500 feet. Quite impressive if you have a few of the Sky Lanterns going up at the same time. The Sky Lanterns come in packs of 10, so that is definitely a possibility.
I think that the Sky Lanterns will be a great talking point for any occasion because they’re so quirky and uniquely different. Definitely the Sky Lanterns would be a really good alternative to noisy fireworks. So why not make your special occasion the talk of the town for all the right reasons by getting Sky Lanterns.

Sex Panther Cologne
This has nothing to do with any gadget, gizmo or technology at all, but it is a product from one of my all time favourite films. Sex Panther Cologne is featured in the fantastic movie, Anchorman.
Anchorman is one of the best films that Will Ferrell has ever made and Sex Panther Cologne is worn by Brian Fantana and is apparently “Illegal in nine countries” and “made with bits of real panther”. Obviously it isn’t really made with real panther; I’m sure that’s illegal. Anchorman is a film about a news anchor and his team who are all male, feeling threatened when a female co-anchor is appointed to the team. Things take a turn for the worse for the team when Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell’s character) falls in love with the female co-anchor.
You really need to see this film if you haven’t.
Sex Panther Cologne apparently smells like desire and should be applied copiously. However, as with any cologne, I’ve found that less is more when it comes to making an impression. You really don’t want to go out to impress the opposite sex smelling like a perfumery counter at a pharmacy.
If the man in your life is a Will Farrell fan, or even an Anchorman fan then you should really get them the Sex Panther Cologne. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, what could be a better gift to give? The Sex Panther Cologne is available on pre-order for £29.95 through PriceGrabber now.
