Cheap Monday is one of my favourite online brands for jeans. But Cheap Monday recently showed their Spring 2010 collection and proved that, whilst they made their name for affordable designer denim, they are not just about denim. Infact their is quite a lot more about them than denim.

Just recently they brought  London based Sofie-Ann Back back to her roots in Stockholm guaranteeing that Cheap Monday will continue with their innovation and diversion from the world of denim. The collection featured denim of course but the slashing and holes were also extended to other pieces of clothing including jumpers.

This year, I love these Cheap Monday trousers which are bold and eye catching. I would team them with an understated grey marl top and some retro trainers for a very original and stylish casual look.

It has been a very sad week for yet another celebrity known and much celebrated for her style and hair. Farrah Fawcett died last Thursday aged 62. She was probably most well known for her role in Charlies Angels. Her style of bell bottoms and jumpsuits became a huge trend in the seventies that is still very popular today. She really helped to define the look of a decade with her relaxed effortless style. Her style was at times casual and tomboyish and at other time elegant and sophisticated. Her long blond hair always looked amazing but natural.

After the sad death of Michael Jackson and the inevitable shock and grief, comes the celebration of his life and the huge impact he had on the world. But there was a lot more to Michael Jackson than just his music. Like most great performers Michael had a style of dressing that was completely unique and much imitated.

Michael Jackson reached an iconic status for his music, performances and style. His clothes were flamboyant and often encrusted with jewels. Last weekend, revellers at Glastonbury were treated to a relatively warm and almost rain free festival. This is a definite contrast to previous years when the whole site turned into a mud bath. But even so, the festival is held on a farm and it did get a bit muddy and churned up in places.

It is no surprise that regular celebrity attendees at Glastonbury like Daisy Lowe have developed the art of looking incredibly stylish but still being practical in some way. Boots are almost essential pieces of clothing for Glastonbury but Daisy proved that the much worn Hunter welly boots are not the only option. Her black slouchy boots came just above the ankle giving a practical piece of footwear that also looked great with her understated cool tasselled skirt and top combo. In true Daisy Lowe style she worked that effortless style with the slight mismatch of the colours of her top and skirt and kept the whole look simple not to detract from the elegance of the tassels with her plain brown shoulder bag.

Phoebe Philo, former designer at Chloe has showed her long awaited first Celine collection for Resort 2010, a few weeks back. The designer who is hoped will turn the Celine label around with her beautifully designed clothes, is playing it safe for her first season with a collection of very wearable utilitarian pieces characterised by zips and other chunky details. The collection was a stark contrast to her usual fayre of frilly and feminine charm. The clothes were made of Italian fabrics rather than French because of their more masculine textures.

The collection included Celine bags and Celine shoes which are much awaited by many Philo fans. She obviously has not lost her amazing talent for designing irresistable accesories and I expect that most will sell out pretty quickly. My favourites were the shoes which will definitely be added to my ever growing wish list.

If you can’t wait until Phoebe’s debut Celine shoes are available, Celine do also have some very desireable summer shoes like these high heeled sandals.

The high pony tail is  a great way to keep cool it keeps your hair completely out of the way. It also is a fresh and youthful hair style. For me one of the biggest bonuses is that it adds a bit of height and makes me appear a bit taller. Here is how to get the perfect high pony tail.

 1. Start by brushing the hair around your head, whilst holding it in a pony tail, with a paddle brush to achieve a smooth finish. If you like spray a little hair spray onto the brush to tame any loose strands or frizz, which can be a particular problem in hot weather. The pony tail will look very different depending on how high it is, experiment with different heights until you find the right one for you.

2. Once you have it right secure with a non elastic band. You will need to loop the band around until it is quite tight for a secure pony tail that does not fall down.

3. Clip back any loose pieces of hair that are not long enough to fit into the pony tail.

4. Now the fun bit, you can leave your ponytail as it is or decorate as you like by clipping in hair extensions, lots of little plaits (if it is long enough) and also using a decorative band or necklace around the base of the pony tail. Some artistic prints on clothing can include drips of paint randomly splattered onto a garment but more interestingly, a very striking landscape picture can be used to create a very eye catching piece. A landscape can evoke strong feelings that are related to memories of that place. The memories are very personal and so each persons thoughs about a particular landscape will be very different.
