Yves St Laurent Patent Leather Cage Boots

picture from www.elleuk.com
Theses Yves St Laurent Black patent leather caged boots seem to be every where at the moment from fashion shoots to websites and blogs. I love the style and they are cetainly very innovative and a bit different. I have only one concern (apart from the price), comfort. I realise that sometimes we have to make certain sacrifices in the name of fashion but cold, blistered and uncomfortable feet is just too much for me to endure. There is also the danger of all sorts of debris including cigarette butts, chewing gum and the like getting caught up in the cage like heel. Of course if I had the money to buy these gorgeous looking boots none of these things would be a problem, as I would no doubt be chaffeur driven every where with no need for walking.
I have found myself the perfect alternative to the Yves St Laurent Cage boots. These laser cut Diesel boots are definitely more affordable and practical but still really stylish and will look great with all sorts of dresses and skirts in my spring wardrobe.

Polo Necks
I am pleased to see back in fashion one of my favourite items of clothing. It is in fact the clothing equivalent of a Sunday Roast or Cottage Pie for dinner, comforting, warm and familiar. I am talking about the polo neck jumper- great for the freezing cold winter weather and a neutral stylish addition to anyones wardrobe that goes with almost anything and can easily be dressed up with a variety of different accessories.

At Yves St Laurent, black polo neck jumpers were worn with almost everything from skirts to dresses to suits for a gothic minimalist look.

The Polo Neck was just made for Jil Sanders signature minimalist look, definitely something I will be trying out for this Autumn Winter.

This Prada Polo Neck is a great basic for wearing with almost anything.

Yves Saint Laurent
I could not possibly write a post today without paying tribute to Yves Saint Laurent one of the most influential figures in ladies fashion. Yves Saint Laurent, aged 71 died yesterday of brain tumour yesterday at his home in Paris. He revolutionised the silhouette of the twentieth century women with his trouser suits, tuxedos and masculine clothes.
Yves Henri Donat Mathieu Saint Laurent was born in Oran, Algeria, on August 1, 1936, when the North African country was a still French territory. He arrived in Paris aged 17 and persuaded Vogue editor Michel de Brunhoff to publish his fashion sketches. Under the advice of Michel de Brunhoff, Christian Dior took him on and when he died three years later, Yves Saint Laurent took over the house. Marc Bohan was taken on to replace Laurent whilst he was fighting in an independance war for his native Algeria, even though he returned after only 3 weeks on health grounds. Yves St Laurent then sued Dior and won with the help of his partner Pierre Berge. Yves Saint Laurent set up his own label which was a turning point in ladies Haute Couture.
Yves St Laurent was very much a leader in the world of fashion, new versions of his trouser suit and tuxedo appear on the catwalk season after season, with spring summer 08 being no exception. The Yves Saint Laurent trouser suit or Tuxedo has become a must have item in every fashionistas wardrobe. He will be remembered by everyone with a love of fashion as a genius and an advocate of women, who influenced a generation of designers and redefined the shape of womens clothing.
