Autumn 08 - Seventies Trend
I am loving the seventies trend for Autumn 08 which was seen on the catwalk at Stella McCartney, Jaeger and Bottega Veneta. The key items to get for this seasons seventies look is the full and swingy shaped knits and skirts. Colours were Autumnal and rusts, oranges and yellows combined for that earthy warm feel that was around so much in the seventies. Etro also showed inspiration from the relaxed seventies Bohemian that was so popular for the pring and Summer. The key to this look is layering with brown leather, sheepskin and maxi dresses cinched in at the waist with a belt, being key components. The paisly prints at Dolce and Gabbanna also had a very seventies feel about them.
This tunic style top in organic cotton is a great way to wear this seasons seventies trend with ties at the hem and neckline you can adjust how gathered it is to suit you.

Happy Birthday Gucci
Can you believe it? The Gucci brand has really come of age. In celebration of their 70th Anniversary, they showed their first formal cruise collection show in Rome last night. The show was followed by a no expense spared dinner for 300 people and a party afterwards at Rome’s Villa Aurelia that I would have so loved to go to. But enough about the celebration what about the clothes. The high lights of the night were the show stopping evening gowns in the colours of the Italian flag in tribute to the city of Rome. The rest of the collection wasn’t bad either. It had a distinct seventies feel to it with long flowing dresses, thigh high minis and centre partings everywhere, reportedly inspired by Talitha Getty, Lee Radziwill, and Jane Birkin. The colours were warm and earthy browns, teal and oranges teamed with white for an eye catching effect. Bold retro prints just added to the cool retro vibe.I’ll have to admit whilst the collection was not really breaking any new ground. I loved it for it colourfulness and that nostalgic seventies style that I am so fond of.
This is the ultimate Maxi dress- great if you ahve the figure and the money.

This is a great mini in a striking print, great for days when you really want to turn heads.

This dress is just so seventies I love it and the combination of colours is gorgeous.

Designer Focus - Biba
Sixties Brit brand Biba was originally founded by Barbara Hulanicki in 1964. It became hugely popular with its Kensington department store selling everything from fashion to home furnishings and more. Biba played a key role in classifying London as the most fashionable city in the world during the seventies. The store attracted many celebrity customers including Mick and Bianca Jagger, Twiggy, Yoko Ono, Bridgitte Bardot and Raquel Welch. The store were an amazing retail environment that combined Art Decco, Noveau, Victoriana and the golden age of Hollywood. Unfortunately in 1975, the store closed down.In 2006, much to our delight, Biba relaunched at London Fashion Week. The new label has a modern look but still holds onto the bold and innovative design that was it signature back in the days. Biba is distinctly British and manages to combine the legendary rock and roll spirit of its heyday with present day style. The Spring Summer 08 Biba collection is gorgeous. Here are some of my favourites:

This is a great combination of cool tailored shorts and frothy white blouse

Another gorgous version of the classic white blouse, this time it is given a casual look with a denim skirt and sports shoes.

These high waisted trousers are great for this season a really great seventies look and again I love the feminine blouse.

I love the print on this classic shift dress.

This maxi dress and cardigan combo is a really relaxed and chilled out look.

The black and white hat and white shoes give this really stylish black dress a bit of fun.
