Prom Dresses for Spring Summer 09

Prom season is nearly upon us and many young girls are pondering, deliberating and considering one of the most important desisions of the year - what to wear? For many it is a welcome change from wearing casual clothes like jeans and trainers and the chance to get really dressed up. For others it is a bit of nightmare, trying to find something that is suitable for a prom, but does not make them feel uncomfortable. Then there is the decision whether to go for a short cocktail dress or a full on formal dress or perhaps something in between. I always think that the best option is the dress that you feel comfortable in. You are bound to look great, enjoy the evening and have fun. There are so many beautiful prom dresses to choose from, you are bound to find something perfect. Here are some of my favourites:

Prom Dresses 2008

The prom dress is a great style of dress for a party, prom, ball or evening affair. This winter there are lots of different styles to choose from but this season there is a trend for mid length A line skirts and sashes or ribbons tyed around the waist. Prom dresses this year also reflect some of the seasons other key trends which include lace, ombre/ dip dyed and layering. Three of my favourite styles are this lace dress,  this dip dyed monochrome dress and this organza prom dress. The dresses are all in black which is such a classic and flattering colour for evening wear but each of the dresses has somethig a bit special about them that makes them a bit more than the standard little black dress.

Organza Prom Dress

The organza top panel of this dress makes it easy and comfortable to wear but a little bit sexy.

Lace Prom Dress

This lace dress is so elegant and the satin ribbon around the waist really finishes it off. It is probably the best value party dress I have seen so far.

This dress is absolutely stunning. I love the ombre effect and the contrast black and white ribbon around the waist.

The Perfect Prom Dress

As Prom season approaches, every girl is looking for the perfect prom dress that will make her look and feel gorgeous. Here are some of my ideas for finding just the right prom dress for your shape. If you have a curvy or hour glass figure you should choose a dress that nips in at the waist or has a belt or sash. Quality fabrics that skim rather than cling will look best on you and a straight or A line dress that is quite fitted around the bust will look great. For those with an athletic build, you can make your shoulders narrower using strapless or halter neck dresses. A flared skirt will help to balance out wide shoulders. Keep the top half fitted and keep detail to the bottom half of the dress.

Pear shaped girls look amazing in dresses with A line skirts with open necklines and detail on the top half. They should avoid horizontal lines especially around the hip area. Empire line dresses that fit around the bust and flare out over the waist and hips are also great for hiding a larger lower half.

If you have no waist, you can elongate your torso by wearing a v neck dress or dresses with vertical lines. Seams or long scarves are a flattering way of creating vertical lines. You should avoid belts and sashes or any detail around the waist area. Low waisted dresses will look great on you. You should keep the design of the dress simple and avoid decoration on the top half of the dress.

This Giant Daisies Prom Dress is a great style that will suit almost anyone.
