Bunny Ears - Putting the fun back into fashion
Amongst all of the seriousness and talk of recession, there is still a bit of fun in fashion and you can have a bit of a laugh with what you wear, if you like. Many of the labels reverted to dark colours and neutral classic items for autumn and winter, the camel coat, the black dress and the pencil skirt. But this was not the case at Louis Vuitton and Moschino Cheap and Chic, where animal ears put in an unexpected appearance. Only Marc Jacobs could make rabbit ears look stylish and he did with a little humour and a slight smirk. Moschino opted for a smaller type of rodent, with a hat resembling mouse ears. Perhaps a bit of fun fashion is what we will all need to cheer ourselves up after another wet summer and an economic down turn.

Louis Vuitton and Murakami
You Tube is becoming popular as a marketing medium for fashion brands. There was YSL, then Alexander McQueen, and now a full short film celebrating six years of collaboration between Murakami and Vuitton. If (like me) you are a fan of the mega luxury label Louis Vuitton, you will probably enjoy watching this. A beautiful storyline, beautiful animation by the genius Murakami and an amazing colourful video.
Another exciting and creative person that Louis Vuitton has worked with is Marc Jacobs. Find out more about this collaboration with this documentary DVD.

For spring summer 09, there was a definite appearance of bedtime wear. Not the boudoir, baby doll variety but more that of a refined gentleman. Pyjama trousers were part of the day time wear. The loose fitting, satin trousers with retro style polka dots or stripes had a definite relaxed feel about them, whilst still being very elegant. I love this look as it is a comfortable and easy to wear style. However petites such as myself, need to watch out that the trouser legs are too wide as we will look completely out of proportion. The floor length rather than ankle skimming variety of pyjama trousers are also a much more flattering and leg lengthening option.
I would suggest wearing the pyjama trousers with sandals or heels, a fitted jacket and quite a bit of glitzy jewellery to prove that you are not ready for bed quite yet.
You can create your own version of this look by teaming some mens pyjama trousers with a smart blazer.

Paris Fashion Week - Louis Vuitton
I always love the luxury of Louis Vuitton. Unfortunately, I will probably never get to wear anything from Louis Vuitton but it is nice to day dream and get some inspiration for my next seasons wardrobe of course. The colours of the collection by Marc Jacobs were probably more Autumnal than Spring Summer. The look was slick, glam and glossy with gorgeous wide, crimson or black, satin polka dot pyjama style trousers. The jackets were beautifully cut as would be expected from such a talented designer working at such an established.
Feather trims and accessories and wooden tribal style jewellery gave the whole collection a tribal feel. The sandals were great and I am sure there will be plenty of similar versions on the high street next summer.

This is my favourite of the whole collection. I love the trousers combined with the tailored jacket.

This jacket has the big shoulders that look to be abig trend for next summer.

This outfit looks great, I love the bronze details like the belt and the sandals with feather details.

I love the shape, colours and texture of this dress, again the big shoulders are a key feature of this outfit.

This jacket is a great colour, set off beautifully by the gold trim around the cuffs.

Trousers - The Ankle Skimmer

picture from www.elleuk.com
The most up to date trouser for Autumn and Winter 08 is the ankle skimmer or ankle length trousers. It was seen at both Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten and Yves Saint Laurent to name but a few. The shape is short and more tapered than last years trousers and can range from a loose fit to a much tighter capri style. The tailored version are definitely more flattering and if like me you are not really tall and slim, these trousers absolutely must be worn with a heel.
On the plus side the ankle skimmer trouser is both elegant and practical and great to wear for work or as a smarter alternative to jeans on the weekend.
For tops to wear with these trousers keep it in proportion be keeping them fairly fitted. I love the look at Louis Vuitton with a polo neck jumper, big statement necklace and long gloves.
For a pair of ankle skimmers that are great for petites and ideal fora night out try these Miss Sixty low waisted 3/4 length trousers in satin velvet.
