Levi’s 529 - Jeans to make your legs look thinner
Whether you have tree trunk legs or just want to make your legs look a little thinner, there are lots of clever trick that you can employ. Boot cut jeans are one of the best ways to make your legs look longer and thinner when you want a casual and versatile outfit. I love the wash effect on these classic mid rise jeans. The lighter areas down the centre of the legs create a great optical illusion making legs look thinner. Don’t forget to ensure that you have the right length of jeans. High heels with the hem of the jeans almost touching the floor is also a great way to lengthen the leg.
These classic Levi’s 529 jeans are timeless so will remain in your wardrobe for many years to come. They have two pockets at the front and two at the back with the iconic Levi’s red label.

Cheap Monday Online

Cheap Monday is one of my favourite online brands for jeans. But Cheap Monday recently showed their Spring 2010 collection and proved that, whilst they made their name for affordable designer denim, they are not just about denim. Infact their is quite a lot more about them than denim.
Just recently they brought London based Sofie-Ann Back back to her roots in Stockholm guaranteeing that Cheap Monday will continue with their innovation and diversion from the world of denim. The collection featured denim of course but the slashing and holes were also extended to other pieces of clothing including jumpers.
This year, I love these Cheap Monday trousers which are bold and eye catching. I would team them with an understated grey marl top and some retro trainers for a very original and stylish casual look.

Celebrity Style - Ripped Jeans
Elle Magazine has highlighted the latest celebrity fashion or micro trend - ripped jeans. I am sorry to say that I remember this eighties trend the first time around. I was only a teenager and I remember my mother telling me that I certainly could not go out of the house dressed like that. I must be getting old because this time around I found myself saying ”I certainly could not go out the house looking like that”.
For those who do not have my old fashioned inhibitions about ripped jeans, this is a very easy trend to follow. Just wear a pair of old jeans that is wearing out or rip them up a bit. The latest way to wear them seems to boyfriend style with turn ups although I think any ripped pair of jeans including skinny and wide legged will do. Those with their fingers firmly on the fashion pulse buy their designer jeans ready ripped.

Jeans for Spring Summer 09
Denim and jeans are always a summer and winter staple. Each season a new trend or style of denim emmerges to compliment the usual array of boot cut, wide legged, skinny, indigo, coloured and navy jeans. This summer the look for denm is acid washed, stone washed, ripped, torn and bleached. Celebrities like Katie Holmes who have become famous for the wearing of jeans lead the way in denim fashion with jeans from some of the hottest designer labels.

At House of Holland, the jeans had a bit of comedy value about them. With large holes punched at periodic intervals showing a pair of long shorts underneath and roughly rolled up hems.

At Diesel Black Gold dark washed out denims with scuffs and tears were again roughly rolled up at the hemand worn with ankle boots and almost matching tops boots and bags for an all over denim blue outfit.

At Balmain, the jeans were just about the most desirable for this season. They were skinny in style with bright white bleached and mottled effects. Worn with a military style tailored jacket for amazing effect.

The Stylish Mummy
If like me, you are a mother to young children, it can sometimes be a challenge to look stylish and feel great in your clothes. There are numerous obstacles when it comes to looking good including tiredness, children wiping messy hands and faces over your clothes and the practicalities of wearing high heel shoees or skirts whilst chasing a toddler around the park. When it comes to being a stylish mummy, it is all about find practical clothes that look and feel great (and are easy to wash).
I always think a key item for the stylish mummy is a really nice coat and pair of boots. No matter what you have been wearing around the house all day and how much tomato sauce has been smeared over your clothes, you can always throw them on and look smart when you need to pop to the shop of pick the children up from school.
A really well fitting pair of jeans is also a great buy for any Mum. It is worth investing in a nice pair of jeans as you will probably live in them. They are just about the most practical item of clothing you can get. You can combine jeans with different tops for just about any occassion.
A big hand bag is also a must for the stylish mummy. Great for carting a whole host of baby and children accessories around with you including wetwipes, dummies and bottles. The large shopper style is ideal and will fit in just about everything you will need (except the kitchen sink).
Remember, as a Mum it is important to take time to look after yourself. The better you feel, the happier your children will be.
This long style military coat is great for a busy mum to ultra stylish on the school run.

It’s not all about money
I posted last week about ’staying in is the new going out’, mainly as a result of the economical climate that they call ’stagflation’. As cost of living rises so does our desposable cash to spend on new clothes. What are we to do? Are we destined to live in a style vaccum for the next few month (or years) until the economy picks up and inflation slows down?
Well you will be pleased to hear that the the answer is “no”. After all style is not about how much you spend on clothes. As stated by the late great Christian Dior “It’s not money that makes you well dressed, its understanding” and so we can all breath a sight of relief, we can still be well dressed without racking up loads of debt.
In fact quite often those who have spent less on their clothes look more stylish than those who have spent more. Perhaps this is because, the more money someone has the less time they spend thinking about each purchase. For those with not much to spare, each item of clothing that they own will have been carefully considered and chosen to suit the owners shape, colouring and personality.
Perhaps this is something to consider next time you are eyeing up that designer dress in the shop window.
Next time you are suffering from the effects of Stagflation try buying something amazing at an amazing price, like these Miss Sixty Eden Jeans (It will cheer both you and your bank manager up)

All Washed Out
I have just rescued my old washed out jeans from the charity bag. This summer, washed out denim is going to be everywhere. I love denim because it so versatile and hard wearing. A pair of jeans is great for everyday wear and this season the perfect pair is likely to be washed out, faded and ripped denim. This summer denim has a really pale and soft look, perfect for wearing with this seasons florals and romantic ruffles.

For Spring Summer 08 Christopher Kanes show was awash with washed out denim, from slashed skinny jeans, to tiered ruffle skirts and lace up boots to bustier tops. The denim was washed out and distressed with raw unfinished seams.

At D&G the denim was smart with a seventies vibe or scraps of unfinished denim in a patchwork effect. The seventies look was created by teaming wide bottomed jeans with a denim waistcoat and floppy hat.

At Chanel, the denim was glammed up by wearing with delicate jewellery. The collection included a fitted denim jacket, denim swim wear and baggy denim trousers.

At Just Cavalli, a faded denim waistcoat was worn over an animal print shirt for a chic look.
