Alexa Cheung and her striped tops

picture from www.buzzworthy.mtv.com
Alexa Cheung is considered a bit of (actually quite a lot of) a style goddess. She always manages to look gorgeous and chic. I am loving her striped tops that she is regularly spotted in. This picture of her presenting her MTV show recently shoes how she cleverly combines simple pieces to create a clean, fresh, classic but individual look. The nautical trend never really goes out of fashion, but Alexa has managed to give it a new twist.

Farrah Fawcett Style

It has been a very sad week for yet another celebrity known and much celebrated for her style and hair. Farrah Fawcett died last Thursday aged 62. She was probably most well known for her role in Charlies Angels. Her style of bell bottoms and jumpsuits became a huge trend in the seventies that is still very popular today. She really helped to define the look of a decade with her relaxed effortless style. Her style was at times casual and tomboyish and at other time elegant and sophisticated. Her long blond hair always looked amazing but natural.
Farrah’s style will most definitely live on!
One of the most recognised images of Farrah was on a skateboard with her wide bottomed jeans, nike trainers and red top. You can get this look by wearing these high waisted wide bottom jeans and these Nike trainers.

Michael Jackson Style

After the sad death of Michael Jackson and the inevitable shock and grief, comes the celebration of his life and the huge impact he had on the world. There is no doubt about it Michael Jackson was the king of Pop and will definitely be remembered for his ground breaking songs and videos that changed the face of global music. But there was a lot more to Michael Jackson than just his music. Like most great performers Michael had a style of dressing that was completely unique and much imitated.
Michael Jackson reached an iconic status for his music, performances and style. His clothes were flamboyant and often encrusted with jewels. His sparkling military jacket worn in 2002 was quite possibly the inspiration for the much sought after Balmain Military jacket in the 2009 SS09 collection. Other key looks that he was known for were a single white glove and ankle length trousers worn with white socks and loafers.
Sparkle and glitter was also another key theme for the Balmain spring summer collection. This gold sparkling Balmain top is sure to get you noticed for the right reasons.

The body con dress

The Herve Leger body con or bandage dress seems to be a style that is not going away, well not for the moment anyway. Countless celebrities have been spotted out and about wearing it including Kate Winslet, Lindsay Lohan, Catherine Zeta Jones, Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham. So what is so great about the body con dress and why does every one want one?
Well the dress appears to hold everything in and smooth out any lumps and bumps (to a degree). If celebrities like Kate Moss, who are celebrated for their curves can wear it, can’t we all?
I think not! a real and genuine Herve Leger dress will set you back a thousand or so pounds. If you have this sort of money then go ahead and get one but remember, it can do wonders for your figure but will probably not perform miracles. If you are a size 16, it will not make you look like a size 10.
If you can’t afford the real thing, there are plenty of cheaper versions available. These will probably not have been designed with the same structural engineering skills of the Leger dress. Great for the very slim and toned but every one else steer clear.

Alexa Cheung - Style

Some of us have it and some of us don’t. There is very little arguement on the fact that Alexa Cheung has it. Style, that is. So what is it that makes Alexa Cheung so talked about as one of the most stylish celebrities of the moment?
Alexa’s style is laid back and looks like she doesn’t really care too much and hasn’t tried too hard. She has a cool London street vibe that is not that unlike many other London celebrities tipped as stylish dressers. She does the casual look so well but adds her own unique touch of elegance. Her look is much copied and imitated using key casual pieces such as white shirts, jeans and waist coats and a few carefully chosen accessories for a simple but very stylish outfit.
This beautiful coloured top looks great dressed down with black leggings, boots and a cropped biker jacket and of course some big sunglasses.

Peaches Geldof

picture from contactmusic.com
Peaches Geldof is only 20 but she has already earnt herself a name as a bit of a fashion icon. She models for PQQ, has her own fashion line and even writes for a fashion magazine. So what is it about Peaches and her style that is so appealing?
Of course Peaches has lived the Rock and Roll life style from an early age and perhaps this is why so many young girls look to her for fashion inspiration. With her family celebrity status, she also has had no shortage of invites to top fashion shows and her pick of designer clothes. When it comes to style though, it is not just access to designer labels that defines Peaches look. She likes to mix up vintage, designer and high street and this is where the skill comes in. It is often said ‘it’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it’ and I think this really is the key to Peaches style appeal. She knows what she likes and what looks good on her and she shows her personality through her own unique style. I think as with many other celebrities that are known for their style, Peaches has mastered the art of not looking like she has tried too hard.

Dita Von Teese - A Style Icon

picture from www.hollyscoop.com
There are many things that Dita Von Teese is famous for including her burlesque dancing and marriage to Marilyn Manson. It is Dita’s style Icon status that I wanted to post about today. Dita’s style is unique. She is one of the very few women who is always perfectly presented and takes pride in her old fashioned Hollywood glamour style. Her look is very much high maintenance in stark contrast to the look of most current celebrities. Dita’s hair is always perfectly coiffed and her dramatic, almost theatrical make up flawless. Her retro looks and style are much sought after by fashion designers and many others. She is currently the face of Cointreau and Cointreau Noir, as well as Cointreau’s international ambassador. Her style inspires designers including Marc Jacobs, John Galliano and Zac Posen.
I once heard Dita on a TV programme stating how she never slobs around the house in trackies but wears elegant lounge wear instead. Dita wears clothes designed to highlight her very feminine figure and often wears corsets which emphasise her waist.

Lady Gaga Style

picture from www.femalefirst.co.uk
Lady Gaga is definitely the lady of the moment. With a top 3 album just released and number one singles in both the UK and Australia, it is becoming very difficult to ignore this singer, song writer and musician. But what has really made me notice her is her unique and individual sense of style and I am not the only one to have noticed. Lady Gaga has been called the ‘face of 2009′ by Grazia magazine and also named as their style crush.
Her style could be described as crazy, attention grabbing and even shocking by some. Her outfits are skin tight, larger than life and are strongly influenced by art. Her platinum blond hair only adds to the overall look which suggests that she is certainly no shrinking violet. She mixes up styles including clothes from Haus of Gaga, a collective who work on creative production of fashion, stage props and hair. She loves the clean lines of designers and labels such as Chanel and Versace. She considers Donnatella Versace a muse and often chanels her style. She also is a fan of Maison Martin Margiela and Thierry Mugler.
If you would like to catch everyones attention Gaga style, try wearing this eye catching Versace top.

Michelle Obama - the Inauguration dress
picture from www.news.yahoo.com
I have been paying a lot of attention to the news and everything going on in America over the last few days. Especially what Michelle Obama was wearing for the Inauguration ceremony. This will probably be one of the biggest days of her life and I am guessing that no expense was spared when it came to choosing what to wear- although I very much doubt that it cost as much as some of the outfits in Sarah Palin’s campaign wardrobe.
Her choice - a dress by a relatively little known Cuban American designer Isabel Toledo, worn with some green patent Jimmy Choo pumps and green gloves. Michelle Obama’s choice of clothes have become top headline news since Barack won the presidential elections. The views of the public on this outfit are very mixed as would be expected. With comments ranging from elegant and lady like to unflattering and just plain wrong for the occasion. My own opinion is that, I would not have chosen it myself but it looked good on Michelle. I think there would be criticism whatever she wore.

If like Michelle Obama, you love yellow, you will love this beautiful yellow chiffon evening dress.
