The 2009 Costume Institute Show has been given an interesting theme this year - The Model as a Muse. Ever since the forties, iconic models such as Twiggy have had a huge influence on fashion and this still continues in the present day with Kate Moss being so much more than just a model when it comes to fashion. The Gala will be a tribute to the models that have influenced fashion and style over the decades.

If you are wondering what exactly a ‘Muse’ is, it is a term used to describe the models that influenced the designers and photographers with whom they worked but almost everyone who came into contact with them or saw pictures of them, making them the icons of fashion for their time. Kate Moss probably the main model muse of our time with the sales of her Topshop line proving that whereever Kate goes with her style, others will follow. Kate Moss was at the star studded pre opening gala acting as the events co chair, along with Harold Goda, co-curator of the Costume Institute at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, Anna Wintour, American Vogue’s editor-in-chief, designer Marc Jacobs and pop star Justin Timberlake.
