Recession Proof Your Wardrobe

It is being reported on the news that the UK is already in recession and that the economic outlook for 2009 is pretty grim. Sorry to put a downer on everyones day. I don’t usually like to be the bearer of bad news as the news programs fulfil this role exceptionally well. But I believe now is the time to take action to ensure that your wardrobe is adequately equipped to weather a recession and keep you looking stylish no matter what the state of the economy. Do you want to know how?

It is all about  buying key basics that are timeless or at least are likely to be wearable for the next year or so. These can then be dressed up and brought up to date using cost effective accessories. When looking for key basics quality, cut and fit are the key. Look for good quality materials and clothes that will wash well and stay looking good. Don’t forget to look after your clothes. Protect cashmere from moths using cedar wood balls and remove any stains from your clothes as soon as possible to prevent them becoming permanent. By buying a style of clothes that really suits you, you will be unlikely to get bored or fed up with your clothes. A well cut piece of clothing is timeless, you will want to wear it year after year. Use scarves, belts, jewellery and handbags to accessorise the basics creating a different look each day.

To recession proof your wardrobe, it is important to take action now. Carefully consider all purchases that you make. Is it something that you are likely to wear again next year. Is the fit exactly right and do the color and style fit you. Are you getting best value for money, compare similar items to find the best price.

A classic pair of black trousers for the evening will always be an assest to your wardrobe. I love these Tuxedo Trousers.
