The start of talk on the subject of Christmas parties & other exciting events which crop up at this time of year has turned my thoughts to planning my party season wardrobe.  This year I’m really looking forward to it as the choice is amazing, and there is nothing to match the slightly magical feeling you get when dressed up in a well fitting, head turning, evening dress.

The catwalk saw the most beautiful dresses for Autumn/Winter 07 with all of the big names indulging in sumptuous full length gowns high in colour and embellishment such as this simply striking dress by Giorgio Armani.

If, like me, your budget doesn’t stretch to designer labels you wont be disappointed with what’s available. I found this dress which will draw just as many admiring glances as the Armani dress above but with a much smaller price tag.

This look isn’t for everyone but you will definitely find something that is more your style if this isn’t for you. Colour is used widely this season, from bright pink to pistachio, so search for something in a shade to match your skin tone and then go as brave as you dare on the glitz.

Be careful not to overdo it with the accessories. Avoid jewellery altogether if the dress is really dazzling, and keep gloves and bags simple to compliment rather than fight for attention.
